Don’t be a pussy cat

Ever since I was a kid I’ve always loved cats — was never really into dogs, go figure. Recently this smoky gray cat had a few kittens on the side of my house on Long Island. Since they were born all of the kittens have been pretty scared of human contact except this one brave kitten.

Every time we go outside to feed them – when I’m back on the Island – they all coming running because they smell the food, but here’s the thing…. only one of them has the guts to take a risk and come close enough to actually eat the food; the others have to wait until we go inside and they are left with the scraps.

Over the weeks, the brave kitten has been outgrowing the others, seems happier, and, of course, always has a belly full of food. This little brave kitten really inspires me, because it has the guts to take a chance and just go for something it wants in life.

Only if the other kittens could learn by example and be as brave as the other kitten, then they would be eating like kings. It’s sad, really. The more I analyze the situation with the kittens, the more I see the connections of what’s happen with people who are scared to take a risk and start a business.

Sure you are likely to lose a lot of money, time, energy, relationships, etc… but it’s all worth it when you think about all the wonderful things that you have to gain if you succeed.

I’ve lost thousands of dollars in venture, endless hours in time, and countless days of not being out with my friends, and you know what…? I’ll happily continue to do so. Like Howard Hughes losing millions of dollars of his own money to fulfill his dreams, I am also willing to lose things in order to achieve my ultimate goals. I hope you are willing as well.

We have to stop being scared little kittens starving in the corners of society while our brave brothers are eating like kings because they took risks in life when we were too scared to do the same.

Life is way, way too short to sit back and watch – this isn’t a movie! You have to be a character in that movie, not a viewer in the stands.
